Commissioned Work

Commissioning an original work offers the opportunity to create something uniquely connected to you, your space, and my artistic practice.

My commissions begin with conversation. We may consider the scale and architecture of a space, an existing palette, a particular body of work that resonates with you, or simply the feeling you hope the finished piece will bring to a room. From there, I develop a direction that responds to those ideas while remaining true to my process of painting, deconstructing, weaving, and reassembling paper.

The Process

Conversation

We begin by discussing the space, desired scale, general palette, and the work of mine that has drawn you to a commission. Photos, measurements, fabric samples, paint colors, or other visual references can be helpful in understanding the environment where the artwork will live.

Direction

Once we have established a direction, I provide proposed dimensions, materials, palette, pricing, and an estimated timeline. Depending on the project, this may also include color studies or other visual references.

Creation

Every commission is created as an original work rather than a reproduction of an existing piece. Because my process is intuitive, there is an element of discovery inherent in each work. Color, gesture, texture, and composition evolve as the original paintings are created, deconstructed, and ultimately reconstructed.

I share progress images at key points along the way, offering a glimpse into the transformation without removing the spontaneity that is central to the work.

Completion

Once complete, the work is prepared for its new home. Framing, delivery, shipping, and installation needs can be discussed depending on the scale and location of the project. For larger or site-specific commissions, I can also assist with considerations such as placement and installation.

Begin a Conversation

You do not need to have every detail figured out before reaching out.

A photograph of the space, approximate dimensions, and a few thoughts about what has drawn you to my work are more than enough to begin.
